Why MT4/MT5 Expert Advisors Need a Windows VPS

An Expert Advisor only trades while MetaTrader is running, logged in, and able to reach the broker. Close the laptop lid, lose Wi-Fi, or let Windows update overnight, and the EA is idle. That is not a software bug. It is how terminals work.

It does not remove market risk. It does not make a losing system profitable. It does not replace a daily loss cap, max spread filter, or a kill-switch inside the EA.

Pick the region closer to the broker's trade server when you can. Indian broker APIs and many domestic desks sit better on an India VPS. Many MT5 forex brokers sit on European or US infrastructure — a USA VPS is the usual choice there.

Latency is one input. Power, RDP access from your city, and whether you already keep other terminals in that region matter as much. Every SevenTicks plan is available in both locations.

Express uses a shared IP. Pro, Basic, and Advance include a dedicated IP. If several traders share an IP pool, a broker can treat that as a lab or a farm. Dedicated IP is the quieter option for a live book.

RAM and CPU scale with how many terminals you attach. One MT5 instance with a light EA is fine on 4GB. Several charts, testers, and heavy indicators want more. Start honest about how many terminals you actually keep open.
